ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC manager Liam Buckley has moved to add firepower to his attacking options for the final stages of the League of Ireland season, with French striker Achille Campion joining on a short-term deal.

Campion was released by Cork City my mutual consent at the end of July having failed to break into John Caulfield’s plans on Leeside, and arrives at Richmond Park as a free agent.

The 28-year-old hadn’t featured for the defending SSE Airtricity League Premier Division champions this season after being sent out on loan to Linfield in January.

Campion made 15 appearances in the Danske Bank Premiership, scoring two goals, and will bring a goalscoring threat to the St Pat’s attack, as Buckley’s side look to finish the campaign strongly.

During Cork’s historic double-winning season in 2017, Campion became a popular figure with City supporters after he came off the bench to score the crucial equaliser in last year’s FAI Cup final against Dundalk at the Aviva Stadium.

Campion, who also played for Port Vale and Torquay United during a spell in England, joined Sligo Rovers in 2016 before earning a move to City a year later.

He could make his Saints debut against Caulfield’s side in Sunday’s Premier Division clash at Turner’s Cross.
