Airtricity League 2012: Five transfers which will make big impacts this season

We take a look at the names which you are likely to hear most about over the next eight months.

THE NEW SEASON is finally upon us after three months of players hopping on and off the usual League of Ireland merry-go-round.

Last year’s top two, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo, have strengthened again, Derry have lost some of their biggest names but will hope their new recruits can fill the void left while Cork City and St Pat’s look much stronger sides this time around. In the First Division, Limerick’s squad is by far the most talented and experienced.

We’ve singled out five players who we feel will be particularly influential for their respective sides in 2012:
