Andy Keogh is leaving Australia for a new club in the far east

Keogh is on his way to the Thai Premier League.

IRISH INTERNATIONAL ANDY Keogh is set to make a surprise move to Thailand, after walking out on Australian side Perth Glory.

Keogh’s contract became a controversial issue in Australia this year, as the club were found guilty of salary cap breaches, resulting in expulsion from the A-League’s playoffs, and hit with a €180,000 fine.

Keogh and the club had entered into negotiations on a new deal, but it now looks to have fallen through, with Australian newspaper The West Australian reporting that he has left the club for Thai Premier League side Ratchaburi.

And that move looks like being finalised, with the player pictured in Thailand with the club’s new president.

Keogh’s departure from Perty Glory was also confirmed by the club.

“The Irishman had a one year deal remaining (with a one year option) and was expected to return to training yesterday, after being granted extended leave,” the statement read.
“Upon his return to Perth late last week, Keogh received an offer from an overseas club – which Perth Glory could not compete with.

“Perth Glory exhausted every avenue to resolve certain terms and conditions relating to Keogh’s contract from last year and offered him a new and transparent deal that did not breach the salary cap.”
