ON MONDAY NIGHT it was confirmed that Brian Cody will remain as the Kilkenny senior hurling supremo for the 2017 season.

And last night another Kilkenny All-Ireland winning manager was ratified for next year.

Ann Downey’s appointment as Kilkenny senior camogie manager for 2017 was confirmed when she was ratified at a county board meeting in Nowlan  Park.

In September, Downey was at the helm as Kilkenny saw off Cork by 1-13 to 1-9 in Croke Park to land a first All-Ireland senior camogie title since 1994.

Downey is synonymous with Kilkenny camogie after playing in all 12 of Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior camogie triumphs before this year’s success.

Her management team will be finalised shortly with former Kilkenny All-Ireland senior hurling winners Paddy Mullally (Glenmore) and Conor Phelan (Clara) having worked alongside Downey this season.

Mullally and Phelan had led Waterford IT, along with Downey, to Ashbourne Cup glory in 2015.

Mike Wall and Ger Walsh – who guided the Kilkenny intermediate side to the All-Ireland title in September – will remain in charge of that setup next season.
