ARSENAL HAVE BECOME the most successful team in FA Cup history after winning the famous trophy for a record 12th time following a convincing 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Wembley.

The Gunners dominated from the outset and once Theo Walcott broke the deadlock shortly before the break, Arsene Wenger’s side were always in command as they retained the crown they won last year.

For their part, Villa will be desperately disappointed as they failed to show on the biggest day in the club’s recent history. Shay Given apart, none of Tim Sherwood’s side stood up and Arsenal’s quality showed in a one-sided affair.

Given could do little about Walcott’s opener and he was left helpless by Alexis Sanchez’s sweet strike minutes after the interval.

The Chilean’s long-range effort swerved left and then right to given the Ireland goalkeeper no chance.

Per Mertesacker sealed the win shortly after from a Santi Cazorla corner and Olivier Giroud added further gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time.

Ireland U21 international Jack Grealish played the full 90 minutes but, like many of his team-mates, struggled to make an impression against a rampant opposition.
