Barca's Neymar, Alba to have tonsils removed

The operations had been scheduled to take place after the Confederations Cup final in Rio de Janeiro.

BARCELONA’S STAR NEW recruit Brazilian international Neymar and defender Jordi Alba will both undergo surgery to remove their tonsils on Friday and they face a 10-day recovery, the Catalan club announced today.

The operations had been scheduled to take place after the Confederations Cup final in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, when Brazil crushed Spain 3-0 with the help of a sizzling left-footed goal by Neymar.

“Neymar will undergo his surgery in Rio de Janeiro and a member of FC Barcelona’s medical services will be present,” Barcelona said in an online statement.

Barcelona’s 24-year-old defender Alba will have his tonsils out on the same day but at a clinic near Barcelona. The estimated recovery time is 10 days, the club said.
