BEN ‘BAM BAM’ May took a wallop 25 minutes into the Hurricanes’ Super Rugby quarter-final with the ACT Brumbies, but it resulted in a direct assist for teammate and beneficiary Jordie Barrett.
As ‘Canes scrum-half TJ Perenara attempted to fire the ball wide from the base of a ruck, front row May wandered into his passing lane and produced what can only be described as a deft header, with Barrett capitalising upon May’s ‘falcon’ and the Brumbies’ subsequent confusion to dot down for the home side.
It was a defence-splitting intervention by the 34-year-old prop, who was withdrawn for Mark Abbott on the 50-minute mark.
