BAYERN MUNICH ICON Franz Beckenbauer has advised Bastian Schweinsteiger against leave the Bundesliga champions for Manchester United.
The 30-year-old’s future at the Allianz Arena is in doubt due to the strong competition for places in midfield and a number of reports have claimed that the Red Devils are keen to lure him to Old Trafford ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.
Nevertheless, Beckenbauer feels Schweinsteiger should stick around at Bayern for two more seasons, before potentially making the move to MLS.
“Schweinsteiger does not need a challenge like that any more at his age,” Beckenbauer told Sky Sport News.
“I would advise him not to make the move to England. He might as well stay here at Bayern. Schweinsteiger still has one or two more years at the highest level in him. If he still feels like playing football then, I would advise him to consider a move to MLS and to New York.”
The Germany international’s contract with Bayern runs until June 2016.
