DERRY FOOTBALLER PADDY BRADLEY will make his comeback from a nine-month injury lay-off this weekend, manager John Brennan confirmed.
The All-Star forward has been sidelined since tearing his cruciate ligament in a club game last April but now looks set to return to action in Saturday’s McKenna Cup game against UUJ.
With the beginning of the Allianz National Football League just three weeks away, Derry are anxious to get Bradley match fit before the league opener against Galway.
But speaking to RTÉ Morning Ireland earlier today (see GAA.ie), Brennan said that he will ease the Glenullin man back to action by introducing him as a substitute in Celtic Park on Saturday.
Bradley’s younger brother Eoin, who is also recovering with a cruciate injury, has targeted Derry’s Ulster Championship opener on 16 June for his own comeback.
The 28-year-old has been out of action since July but Brennan revealed that there is still an outside chance of him playing some part in Derry’s league campaign.
“We’re being optimistic,” said Brennan. “I talked to the medical people last night with regard to Easter. If that were to be the case he could be back.
“But Eoin has hard work to do, he has to work as hard as Paddy has done.”
