Having been relegated with Aston Villa, Ireland international Ciaran Clark could be set for an imminent Premier League return. West Brom are understood to have made a £4.5 million (€5m) bid for the 26-year-old defender’s services.

Should Man City fail in their bid to sign Schalke’s 20-year-old Germany international Leroy Sane, they will instead target Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, though according to the Manchester Evening News, the German club’s sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that their star will depart the club this summer.

Atletico Madrid have earmarked Liverpool’s Divock Origi as back-up if their move for Chelsea’s Diego Costa falls through.

Saido Berahino could finally be set to leave West Brom, with Stoke having made a £20m (€24m) bid for the 22-year-old striker, according to the BBC.

Liverpool face a battle in their bid for £25m-(€30m)rated Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, with Tottenham and Everton also interested, reports De Telegraaf.

Chelsea and Arsenal both want to sign out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, who the Catalan club are understood to be willing to sell for around £20m (€24m).

17-year-old West Ham starlet Reece Oxford is being valued at £15m (€18m), with both Man City and Man United interested.

Retro deal of the day: Julian Faubert to West Ham

Having impressed with Bordeaux in France, Julien Faubert joined West Ham for £6.1m (€7m) in 2007.

Injury problems meant Faubert struggled to make an impact at Upton Park, so it was a surprise to say the least when he joined Real Madrid on loan for £1.5m (€1.8m) with the option to buy.

After just two appearances in Spain and the odd embarrassing moment, he returned to the Hammers, where his form improved initially, though he was ultimately released by the club at the end of his contract in 2012.

Following another stint at Bordeaux, Faubert signed a short-term deal and made nine appearances for Kilmarnock last season, though he was subsequently released after nine appearances.

Now 32, Faubert is currently a free agent.
