Clare’s hurlers breeze to victory over Laois at Cusack Park

The Banner County ran out comfortable winners in the All-Ireland SHC qualifier.

Clare 1-32
Laois 0-15

CLARE DEFEATED LAOIS by a massive 20 points in the All-Ireland SHC Round 2 qualifier at Cusack Park.

Throw-in was delayed by 15 minutes due to traffic congestion around the ground but Brendan Bulger got the opening score of the game when play did finally get underway before John Brophy responded for Laois.

The Banner men opened up a considerable advantage after scoring nine unanswered points and went into the half-time break in front by 0-17 to 0-8.

Darach Honan and Darren Maher were the first scorers of the second half but Davy Fitzgerald’s men took full control –  firing over another 15 points during the remaining 35 minutes.

Substitute Shane O’Donnell, on for the injuryed Honan, found the back of the net before the end for the only goal of the game.

Clare now play Wexford next weekend in Phase 3 of the hurling qualifiers.
