Colts blow out the Jets to take first place in the AFC South

It was a Monday Night Football to forget for Gang Green.

THE JETS ARE bad.

I mean, the Jets are really bad.

The Jets are so bad that at one stage the Indianapolis Colts players were giggling in the huddle about how easy their 41-10 victory in MetLife Stadium was turning out to be.

The Jets are so bad they gave up three touchdowns to Colts tight end Dwayne Allen who had scored just three times in his previous 23 games.

The Jets are so bad they allowed Andrew Luck post the best passer-rating of his career (147.6) on his way to four touchdowns and no interceptions while his completion percentage (78.6%) and yards per attempt (9.92) rank in his all-time top five.

If there is one bright spot for Todd Bowles’ side, we learned that Bryce Petty can be a deep threat — his 40-yard TD throw to Robby Anderson being a prime example — but it remains to be seen if he can learn the fundamentals of quarterbacking.

After the game, Bowles said that Petty will be the starter going forward for the Jets who fall to 3-8 and are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

The win moves the Colts (6-6) into a three-way tie for first place in the AFC South ahead of a match-up with the Houston Texans on Sunday.

With the AFC West seemingly having both Wild Card spots sewn up, this weekend’s game is must-win for both.
