IT’S EARLY DAYS for Conor Sammon at Sheffield United and he was like a fish out of water during Saturday’s League One game against Blackpool.
Thankfully for Sammon, this miss didn’t prove costly as the Blades still ran out 2-0 winners at Bramall Lane.
However, it is one he’ll want to forget in a hurry. The Dubliner found himself on the end of Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s low cross from the right but somehow he managed to steer it wide from just four yards out.
Sammon, a former UCD and Derry City striker, is currently on loan at Sheffield United from Derby County and scored twice in last week’s 3-1 win against Peterborough.
The 28-year-old has won nine senior caps for the Republic of Ireland, the most recent of which came in the 1-0 World Cup qualifier defeat to Austria in September 2013.
