David Moyes criticises worst-ever Premier League season

The former Red Devils manager has kept a watching brief on England’s top-flight and hopes to return despite a dip in quality.

DAVID MOYES BELIEVES the current Premier League season is the worst in recent memory, but insists that he will eventually return to England’s top-flight.

Moyes departed Manchester United last April and has since taken the reins at struggling La Liga side Real Sociedad.

However, the Scot has kept a watching brief on the Premier League, and has expressed his surprise at the lack of competitiveness in the division.

“It’s as poor a Premier League as I’ve seen for… maybe since the start of the Premier League,” he told BT Sport.

“When you think of the great players who have graced the Premier League and the teams… I look at this year, and I look back, and I say ‘Well I don’t see that’.

“I see good teams, very good teams, and some great players, but I just don’t see the competition the way it was in years gone by.”

However, Moyes says that he does intend to eventually return to England, despite the dip in quality, though insists he is not “missing” the Premier League.

“I’ve actually come and I’ve seen something else, I’ve seen another league,” he added.

“I’m enjoying going to different stadiums, working with different players, trying to learn the language and the culture.

“I couldn’t turn round and say I’m missing the Premier League at the moment, no. But obviously, it’s where I’ve done most of my work and in time I’ve got no doubt I’ll go back there.”
