Ahead of the All-Ireland Junior club football final on Sunday, Croker-bound Derrytresk say they will appeal their five-year Championship ban.

The Tyrone club have been hit with hefty sanctions for their role in last month’s violence in Portlaoise, but they will be allowed to play in Sunday’s All-Ireland Junior football final.

The spectator who struck Dromid Pearses player Declan O’Sullivan will not be permitted to attend GAA matches for 48 weeks, according to reports.

Tyrone club will, reportedly, have to plan without eight players for their All-Ireland Club decider at Croke Park.

“We wouldn’t want the coverage to mask or influence the investigation,” Derrytresk co-manager Paul Hughes said as the GAA opened an investigation into Sunday’s brawl.

Michael Anthony O’Connell has called for Derrytresk to be stripped of their place in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship final following Sunday’s violence in Portlaoise.
