The Dublin team

All set for throw-in here in Croke Park.

Cork 0-1 Dublin 0-0
And it’s Cork who hit the front. Kevin O’Driscoll, who has started at midfield, tears through the middle and hits over a fine effort.

Cork 0-2 Dublin 0-0
And a second for Cork. Ruairi Deane and Mark Collins combine to release Sean White who pops over a shot.

Early drama! Looked like a penalty for Dublin but the decision was changed and the ball thrown in with Cork winning to counter attack.

Cork 0-3 Dublin 0-0
Cork land a third point, Paul Kerrigan on target after that swift break upfield.

Cork 0-4 Dublin 0-0
Four point lead now for Cork. They win a free deep in defence and Ruairi Deane is found in acres of space. He surges upfield and keeps his cool to clip over a score.

Cork 0-4 Dublin 0-1
Con O’Callaghan wriggles clear of the Cork rearguard and taps over a point under pressure. Dublin off the mark

Cork 0-5 Dublin 0-1
Good patient interplay from Cork with Kerrigan at the heart of it and he rounds off the move by swinging over a point.

Goal for Dublin from Jack McCaffrey!

Cork 0-5 Dublin 1-1
Dublin hit the net and it’s wing-back Jack McCaffrey who gets up for the goal. It was an odd one, Paul Mannion passed inside to him and it looked McCaffrey was crowded out initially by the Cork defence but he managed to swivel and slot a low shot past goalkeeper Mark White. Wide then from a free by Cormac Costello from distance.

Cork 0-6 Dublin 1-1
Nice work by Luke Connolly to give and go with Mark Collins and then loft over a point for Cork.

Cork 0-6 Dublin 1-2
McCaffrey burns the Cork defence to make a serious break and pops a pass to Ciaran Kilkenny on the loop who swings over a point.

Brian Fenton with Ian Maguire and Kevin O’Driscoll Laszlo Geczo / INPHO Laszlo Geczo / INPHO / INPHO

Cork 0-6 Dublin 1-3
Costello knocks one over as Dublin draw level, his first of the day.

Yellow card for Cork defender Mattie Taylor.

Dublin 1-4 Cork 0-6
Brian Fenton gets through a gap in the centre after Brian Howard did the spade work and the Raheny combo yields a point for Fenton.

Competitive opening so far, Cork’s accuracy letting them down a little now with Taylor and Sean White registering wides.

Dublin 1-5 Cork 0-6
No mistake at the other end when the chance arises as Philly McMahon fires over off his left for Dublin.

Dublin 1-5 Cork 0-7
Cork trim the deficit and it’s a first point of the game for Mark Collins as he converts his opening free of the evening.

Dublin 1-6 Cork 0-8
Could have been a second Dublin goal there! Again it’s methodical build-up play before Con O’Callaghan explodes through a gap. He blasts a shot over rather than under the bar. Cork counter at the other end with Kerrigan’s third of the evening. They’re not going away from Dublin in this first half.

Dublin 1-7 Cork 0-8
Dublin show their capacity to punch holes in the Cork rearguard. It’s Michael Darragh MacAuley this time who makes the break and he finds Ciaran Kilkenny who points. Great goal chance for Cork then at the other end but Brian Hurley drills his shot from close range at Cluxton.

Dublin 1-8 Cork 0-8
Third point of the game from play by Con O’Callaghan for Dublin.

Dublin 1-8 Cork 0-9
Classy play by Brian Hurley, dummy solo with his right and then he shoots over a point for Cork off his left.

Dublin 1-9 Cork 0-9
Brilliant individual effort by Paul Mannion as he gets on the scoresheet for Dublin.

Goal for Dublin from Michael Darragh MacAuley!

Half-Time: Dublin 2-9 Cork 0-9

That’s a tough setback for Cork before the break and what a boost for Dublin. They get their second goal, another flowing team move as they prise Dublin apart with the ball popped up for MacAuley to palm it into the net.

Teams back out for the second half action.

Dublin 2-9 Cork 0-10
Early point for Cork, Luke Connolly hooking it over from what looked like a really difficult angle.

Dublin 2-10 Cork 0-10
Con O’Callaghan taps over Dublin’s first point of the second half.

Cormac Costello is tackled by Thomas Clancy Cormac Costello is tackled by Thomas Clancy. Bryan Keane / INPHO Bryan Keane / INPHO / INPHO

Dublin 2-10 Cork 0-11
The resultant ’45 is despatched between the posts for Cork from Luke Connolly.

Penalty for Cork!

Big chance for Cork, Paul Kerrigan sets up Maguire and he’s dragged down in front of Hill 16.

Luke Connolly to take it for Cork as Dublin bring in Dean Rock for Costello.

Goal for Cork!

Dublin 2-11 Cork 1-11
Superbly converted by Connolly for Cork, he gave Cluxton no chance. Dublin come down the other end and John Small points.

Dublin 2-11 Cork 1-12
Liam O’Donovan bursts forward for Cork and confidently kicks over.

Dublin 2-12 Cork 1-12
Again Dublin respond, super catch from the kickout by Fenton starts a move that finishes with McMahon pointing.

Dublin 2-13 Cork 1-12
Great acceleration by MacAuley first and then David Byrne ends with Dean Rock clipping over a point for Dublin.

Four in it as we approach the midway mark of the second half.

Kevin Flahive and Tomas Clancy tackles Con O’Callaghan Cork's Kevin Flahive and Tomas Clancy tackle Dublin's Con O'Callaghan. Bryan Keane / INPHO Bryan Keane / INPHO / INPHO

Dublin 2-14 Cork 1-12
So close to a third Dublin goal but Mark White does well to deny John Small who smashed in a shot. The resultant ’45 is kicked by Dean Rock and it sails over.

Dublin 2-14 Cork 1-14
Strong break by Tomás Clancy creates the opening for Taylor to point for Cork and then Brian Hurley floats over another. Back to three in it.

Subs: Cork ring the changes as Kevin O’Donovan and Michael Hurley come in for James Loughrey and Paul Kerrigan.

Dangerous ball in from Connolly for Cork but Cluxton does brilliantly to gather with Ruairi Deane lurking and Dublin clear.

Dublin 2-15 Cork 1-14
Rock on target again from Dublin, slotting over a free from 40 yards out.

Free for Cork within range for Mark Collins but he badly miscues his shot and it tails wide.

Goal for Dublin from Niall Scully!

Dublin 3-16 Cork 1-15
Powerful finish to the net by Scully after great approach work by McCaffrey and Con O’Callaghan. Cork hit back with a Michael Hurley point, they’ve brought on Ronan O’Toole for Sean White. Then Mannion bangs one over for Dublin.

It’s been good encouraging stuff from Cork but Dublin’s class is starting to tell. Seven in it with six minutes of normal time left.

Subs: Paddy Small on for Dublin for O’Callaghan while Cork introduce Stephen Sherlock for Collins.

Goal for Dublin from Ciaran Kilkenny!

Dublin 4-16 Cork 1-15
It’s a bad mistake by goalkeeper Mark White, his short kickout is intercepted and it ends up with Ciaran Kilkenny firing home Dublin’s fourth goal.

A fifth goal for Dublin!

Dublin 5-16 Cork 1-15
Brian Fenton blasts home and it’s getting ugly all of a sudden for Cork as Dublin go 13 points clear.

Subs: Changes to let you know about. Cork have brought on John O’Rourke and Cian Kiely for Ian Maguire and Liam O’Donovan. For Dublin, Jonny Cooper, Eoin Murchan and Kevin McManamon have all come on with O’Sullivan, Mannion and McCaffrey making way.

Dublin 5-16 Cork 1-6
Brian Hurley clips over a free for Cork.

Dublin 5-17 Cork 1-16
Dean Rock swings over a pointed free for Dublin in injury time. There’ll be six minutes in total in this additional period.

Sub: James McCarthy in for Dublin for Brian Fenton.

Dublin 5-17 Cork 1-17
Michael Hurley on target for Cork.

Dublin 5-18 Cork 1-17
A fifth point for Dean Rock since coming on, the latest a splendidly struck point from a free. Then Philly McMahon fires over from play.

Full-Time: Dublin 5-18 Cork 1-17

So Dublin get their Super 8s campaign off to a flying start, powering to victory over Cork with a late rush of goals key.

Brave effort by Cork, they pushed Dublin hard for long stretches but no doubting the victors at the end. Thanks for joining us this evening!
