START PLANNING YOUR autumn TV schedule now, sports fans. ESPN has just announced details of the next six episodes in its award-winning ’30 for 30′ documentary series.
The new run, which kicks off in America on 1 October, includes films on: the tragic story of Hawaiian surfing legend Eddie Aikau; the colourful and controversial Spirits of St Louis basketball team; the legendary ‘No Mas’ fight between Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard; John Spano’s scam to buy the New York Islanders hockey team; Jimmy Connors’ extraordinary run at the 1991 US Open tennis; and the unforgettable tale of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
The new ’30 for 30s’ will run over six successive weeks in October and November but Irish fans won’t have to wait too long to watch — each film will be available on iTunes and Amazon Instant the day after its premiere.
Here’s the line-up:
