TONIGHT SEES THE beginning of a new four-part series following a number of young Irish footballers hoping to make it in the professional game in England.

Football Scholars, which airs on Setanta Ireland at 7pm this evening, goes behind the scenes at Sunderland as 15-year-old Dan Casey attempts to earn a contract after packing in rugby to concentrate on his career.

Also aiming to climb the ladder to first team football at the Black Cats is John Egan, whose late father John Senior was legendary Gaelic footballer and All-Ireland winner with Kerry.

Then there is Evan and Cory Galvin, a set of identical twins from Cork who have earned scholarships at Burnley and Ipswich Town.

Check out trailers for the series below. We were given a sneak preview of the first episode and highly recommend it.
