CAMELOT HAS BEEN confirmed for this year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and is set to be partnered by Frankie Dettori, it was announced this afternoon.

Uncertainty had surrounded the 2000 Guineas and Derby winner’s participation in the race since losing to Enke in the St Leger and missing out on the Triple Crown earlier this month.

However, Dettori, who has won the Arc three times before and will compete in his 25th successive ride, found out this morning that he will partner the Aidan O’Brien-trained three-year-old on Sunday.

O’Brien’s son Joseph has not made the weight and will instead ride stablemate St Nicholas Abbey.

“The horse was going spare and I didn’t have a ride,” Dettori told Racing UK. “What an opportunity and what an honour to be asked to ride the Derby winner and the Guineas winner in the Arc.

A couple of the main horses haven’t made the race so he’ll be right up there on top of the betting. I’m really excited, it’s a pretty good record – 25 Arcs in a row so I’m looking forward to it.

“Let’s hope he’s in tip top shape. He’s had a very long season but if the Camelot we know turns up we’ll have a very good chance.”
