ITV HAVE ANNOUNCED the signing of Gary Neville as part of their punditry team for the 2018 World Cup.
The former Manchester United captain will be joined by Ryan Giggs, Ian Wright and Lee Dixon on the couch in Russia.
ITV reached an agreement with Sky Sports, Neville’s current employers, which will allow the 42-year-old join them on a temporary deal for the duration of the tournament.
Neville was part of the England coaching team for the Euro 2016 campaign, while he played at the World Cup in 1998 and 2006.
In a statement released by ITV, he said: “I’m delighted to join the team at ITV for next summer’s World Cup coverage and (I) thank Sky for also making it possible. I’ll look forward to joining up with them in Russia next June.”
Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said: “Gary Neville is one of the most respected and valued voices in football broadcasting. His experience, insight and understanding of both football and footballers will greatly enrich our coverage of next year’s World Cup.”
ITV plan to announce their full World Cup line-up nearer to the tournament, while rivals BBC have yet to confirm their analysts for Russia.
