A reminder of how Ireland line out today – Scott Bemand makes five changes from the team that lost to England last time out, with captain Edel McMahon, Enya Breen, Molly Scuffil-McCabe, Siobhán McCarthy and Ruth Campbell all coming back into the side.
Wales get us underway in Newport, where it’s a beautiful sunny day. One late change for the hosts as Lleucu George replaces Kayleigh Powell at out-half.

The lineout is messy but Ireland keep possession, only to then lose it after two carries in the Wales 22. Here’s the opening Wales try:
Wales with the first score of the game as Carys Cox touches down following a clever kick forward that wasn't dealt with. #rtesport
Wales win another turnover but lose possession, allowing Ireland to counter – O’Brien’s crossfield to Costigan is good but the pass inside is dropped and Wales escape with a penalty.

Ireland get back in the Wales 22 as Edel McMahon carries hard off the lineout. They edge forward but the ball is turned over again and Wales break down the wing. Lots of ball spilling loose across the first 25 minutes, both teams need to do a better job of holding onto the ball.

27mins: Wales 7 Ireland 7
7 handling errors for Ireland so far, 6 turnovers conceded.
Ireland have the lead in Newport, and there’s lots to unpack in that one.
It all started with another good break from Flood, who shows sharp hands to release Costigan. The winger carries Ireland upfield before releasing, and then the move threatens to break down as O’Brien’s pass to Breen is dropped. However Ireland keep possession and build again, eating the yards with good carries from their forwards carrying them right up to the tryline, where Aoife Wafer is able to get the final nudge over the line. O’Brien coverts and Ireland lead by 7.
As I type, Djougang wins an excellent penalty around halfway. This is much better now from the visitors.
TMO time. There’s a check on a high tackle from Dannah O’Brien, and it’s a quick decision – head contact, foul play, yellow card. That will be reviewed for a potential red, but Ireland are down to 14 for the next 10 minutes at least.
Ireland finishing this half strongly, and are held up on the line as they search for try number three. At the next attempt they get through, Dorothy Wall muscling over with a powerful carry through two Wales defenders. With O’Brien in the bin, Enya Breen stands over the conversion and nails it.

After a sloppy start Ireland settled into that one, but will still feel they can sharpen up in the second half. Stick the kettle on, we’ll be back with all the second-half action shortly.
Just a reminder, Ireland still down to 14 players – but Dannah O’Brien’s yellow card won’t be upgraded to red, so Ireland will be back to 15 in a few minutes.
Brilliant start to the second period for Ireland, and they have the bonus point score!
Good clinical, accurate play. Ireland win a penalty at the scrum and kick to the corner, get their maul going and Dorothy Wall pushes through for her second try. The conversion is off target but Ireland in a really strong position now, as O’Brien rejoins the action.
