A YEAR SINCE the tug of war battle over Jack Grealish, he has received his first call-up to the England U21 side.

Gareth Southgate named his squad for the upcoming Toulon tournament in France today.

The Aston Villa midfielder eventually declared to play for England last September but has found limited playing time over the past few months due to injury.

Although born in England, the 20-year-old had previously represented Ireland at international level throughout his teens.

Chelsea’s academy is well represented in the 20-man squad, while players from Manchester United and Liverpool are absent because of their involvements in the FA Cup and Europa League final.

England U21s opening fixture is against Portugal next Thursday. They will also face Guinea, Paraguay and Japan in the tournament.
