THE LESSON? THERE’S no such thing as a lost cause.

The Newcastle Knights may have ultimately lost this game against the Cronulla Sharks, but in years to come, nobody will remember the result of this game.

Instead, they’ll remember this absolutely sensational piece of skill from the Kinghts’ Jake Mamo, as he set up a try out of absolutely nothing.

After a grubber kick gone wrong, the ball was skidding out over the dead ball line, but Mamo gave chase and dived through the air after it.

Knowing he wouldn’t be able to touch it down himself without going over the line, Mamo instead pulled it back into play, and some quick thinking from teammate Carlos Tuimavave meant he beat the last Sharks defender to touch down for a try.

That incredible try and conversion put the Kinghts 22-12 ahead, but despite Mamo’s heroics, the Sharks came back to win, 30-28.
