Hold it there

'You never know' - TV3 remain coy on Johhny Giles rumours

The pundit recently expressed his unhappiness with some of the treatment he received from RTÉ.

TV3 HAVE REFUSED to confirm or deny reports they are about to pull off one of the most interesting transfer swoops of the summer.

It had been reported in a number of this morning’s newspapers that the broadcaster was planning to swoop for Giles after the pundit expressed disappointment with RTÉ after they replaced him for the crunch Euro 2016 qualifier between Ireland and Scotland with Richie Sadlier.

However, when contacted by The42 this afternoon, a spokesperson for TV3 said:

“Giles is a very talented analyst but we have lots of talented analysts of our own including Kevin Kilbane, Gaizka Mendieta, etc.

“But look, you never know!”

Giles previously told ‘Off the Ball‘ he felt the Scotland incident could have been handled better by RTÉ, particularly Ryle Nugent.

“I’m very disappointed. It’s one of the biggest games we’ve had in recent times,” he said.

“I would have liked to get a call from the Head of Sport to explain to me what the situation is.”

When contacted about today’s rumours, a spokesperson for RTÉ told The42:
