'I'm going to criticise John Terry again because he was awful...again'

Robbie Savage has had another pop at the Chelsea skipper.

ROBBIE SAVAGE HAS reopened his feud with Chelsea captain John Terry after criticising the veteran defender’s performance in Monday’s defeat to Leicester.

Terry was replaced after just 53 minutes of the game, having suffered relentlessly at the hands of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

It was the third high-profile incident involving the 35-year-old so far this season. In successive games back in August, Terry was substituted at half-time in a 3-0 loss to Manchester City and was sent-off after 54 minutes against West Bromwich Albion.

His alarming difficulties this term has led to some inevitable criticism and back in November, Terry responded.

When players have not had a career, played at a really bad level in their career … Robbie Savage being one. He’s dug me out a couple of times. You take it as a footballer, as an individual. I’ll take it from the Rios, Carraghers and Neville. All day long. From others? Nah.”

Following Monday night’s result though – Chelsea’s ninth league defeat of the Premier League season – Savage, who was covering the game for BBC radio, felt he was left with little option than to criticise Terry once again.

“You’ve got to know the players you’re playing against. The first goal, for instance, Mahrez again – what does he do? He gets the ball and comes on his left foot. You know he’s going to whip it in, you’ve got to get closer to him. It’s easier saying that up here but you know he’s going to go on his left foot! I’ve never seen Mahrez go down the line and whip one in with his right foot. Then, Zouma and Terry…they can see Vardy’s run. You know he’s going to make a darting run. Zouma watches him, Terry’s got his back to the play.

I’m going to criticise John Terry because he’s the captain of that side and I’ll tell you what – they looked a better team when he went off. If he wants to question me again, I don’t really care. Because tonight he was awful, once again.”

Over to you, JT.
