IT’S CERTAINLY NOT the coronation he would’ve hoped for.
Jose Mourinho is set to make his first appearance at Old Trafford as Manchester United boss on Sunday, 5 June.
But his new employers won’t be in action.
Instead, the Portuguese will be managing a team comprising of English ‘celebrities’ like Danny from McFly and Robbie Williams’ best friend Jonathan Wilkes.
Also in the squad, is Jack Whitehall, Olly Murs and John Bishop.
Mourinho’s side will take on a Rest of the World team comprising of Gordon Ramsay, Nicky Byrne and, eh, Serge from Kasabian.
Claudio Ranieri will take charge and actor Michael Sheen will wear the armband.
It’s Soccer Aid 2016 – the annual Unicef fundraiser – and it’s suddenly taken on a lot more intrigue and interest after today’s developments at United’s training ground.
Mourinho has taken part before – in 2014 – when he memorably (and thankfully) took out Murs with a cynical trip along the touchline.
