JT McNamara transferred to Dublin hospital to continue recovery

The amateur jockey suffered a neck injury in a serious fall at Cheltenham last month.

INJURED JOCKEY JT McNamara has returned to Ireland to continue his recovery, it has been confirmed.

The amateur jockey suffered a serious neck injury, resulting in paralysis, at the Cheltenham Festival last month when he fell from Galaxy Rock in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup.

McNamara was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where he had remained until yesterday when he was transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

“We are pleased to announce that JT McNamara has arrived at the National Spinal Unit, Mater Hospital, Dublin following his transfer from Frenchay Hospital, Bristol,” a statement issues on behalf of the family reads.

“We wish to express sincere thanks to all the personnel involved in his safe transfer. We will forever be indebted to the staff at Frenchay Hospital for the fantastic care he has received there since his injury. John Thomas is looking forward to the next phase of his treatment and rehabilitation in Ireland. We thank everyone for their on-going support and prayers and ask people please to continue to respect our privacy.”
