LIMERICK ATTACKER KEVIN Downes has emerged as an injury concern for Munster champions Limerick as they get set for their All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final clash on August 18th. has learned that Downes suffered a broken toe during training this week and now faces a fight to be fit in time for the tie in Croke Park.

Downes, a Munster U21 hurling winner in 2011, has not yet started a championship game for John Allen’s side this year but has come on as a substitute in their two matches to date.

He made a particular impact in the Munster final win over Cork when he fired over two points as Limerick attacking substitutes Downes, Shane Dowling and Niall Moran proved a key factor in propelling them to a 0-24 to 0-15 victory at the Gaelic Grounds.

Downes is set to be unavailable for the 2011 county senior champions Na Piarsaigh game against Patrickswell on August 3rd. There is a full list of club fixtures on that August Bank Holiday weekend for the bulk of John Allen’s side before they start to focus on their All-Ireland semi-final tie.
