KILANERIN WERE CROWNED Leinster club intermediate football champions at Innovate Wexford Park this afternoon thanks to a 0-13 to 0-11 win over Ballyboughal.

Following a dramatic finale during which Ballyboughal had a man dismissed, the Wexford champions prevailed at the expense of their Dublin opponents.

Kilanerin will now go on to face Michael Glavey’s of Roscommon in the All-Ireland semi-finals in January.

In a tight encounter, Kilanerin and Ballyboughal were level on 0-5 each at half-time in today’s provincial decider.

Ballyboughal moved into a 0-10 to 0-8 lead heading into the final quarter but Kilanerin finished strongly, kicking five unanswered points — four of which came from the boot of a 2004 All-Star, 38-year-old Mattie Forde — to take control.

Ballyboughal were awarded a penalty late on which offered them the opportunity to tie the game up, but the Dublin side could only manage a point with their attempt and Kilanerin emerged victorious.

Former All-Ireland intermediate-winning boss appointed new Mayo ladies football manager
