THE WORDS ‘KOLO TOURE’ and ‘overhead kick’ don’t exactly go hand-in-hand. But last night, the defender provided Liverpool with a rare highlight as the club struggled against FC Sion.
Not exactly known for his subtlety, the Ivorian almost grabbed the Reds’ second goal with a pretty unique and acrobatic volley.
Inevitably, after many had rubbed their eyes in disbelief, they took to Twitter to express their gratitude at having seen such a wondrous event.
After the game, Toure offered his thoughts, as his search for a first Liverpool goal continues.
“Jordon Ibe told me before the game that I was going to score tonight and when I saw that shot heading towards the goal I thought he was going to be right,” he said.
“I thought it would be my first goal. It would have been unbelievable to score like that in front of the Kop. Of course I’ve been practising my overhead kicks! It was unlucky. It just wasn’t our night.”
