BARCELONA’S ‘LA MASIA’ youth academy is renowned for producing some of the world’s best players, and the conveyor belt doesn’t appear to be showing any signs of slowing down.
The likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta are all graduates of La Masia, but if this goal is anything to go by, a couple of members of Barca’s ‘Aleví A’ team (Under 12s) look like they’re capable of following in their footsteps.
Playing against Cornella over the weekend, Pablo Lopez carved open the opposing defence with some tasty trickery and cut the ball back for Iker Almena, who displayed some neat footwork of his own before applying a lovely finish, while Cornella’s back-four and goalkeeper looked on in bemusement.
Questionable defending but irrespective of the opposition, it’s hard not to appreciate technical ability like that from young lads who weren’t even born when Iniesta made his Barca debut.
