DUBLIN’S COLÁISTE EOIN will meet Westmeath’s Marist Athlone in the final of the Leinster Colleges SFC in Croke Park next Saturday after both recorded comprehensive wins this afternoon.

Dublin minor Con O’Callaghan scored 2-6 as Coláiste Eoin ran out 10-point winners over defending champions’ St. Pat’s, Navan in a game they really took control of in the second half.

The Dublin side held just a four point lead, 0-7 to 0-3, at half-time but O’Callaghan scored a penalty two minutes after the break and Fionn Ó Riain-Broin grabbed a second soon after to outscore Pat’s by 2-2 to 0-1 in the game’s third quarter.

The holders didn’t give up their title without a fight though and goals from John Morley and Padraig McGowan brought them back into the game. However Colm O’Neill and O’Callaghan both raised the green flag in the latter stages to ensure their side reached the decider.

They’ll face Marist College in the final after Charlie McMickan scored a pair of superb goals to help his side to a 13-point win over Good Counsel, New Ross in the day’s other semi-final.

Thanks to McMickan, the Westmeath side raced into 1-7 to 0-1 lead after 20-minutes. Adam Swan got a goal back for New Ross before the break but they still trailed 1-2 to 1-8 at half-time.

Marist were relentless in the second half however and ran out comfortable winners as Good Counsel could only add three points to their total.

The final will serve as the curtain raiser to the Dublin, Kildare Allianz National Football League Division I clash next Saturday.
