Van Gaal: 'You simply can't understand what Wayne Rooney says'

Well, that could be a problem.

LOUIS VAN GAAL admits he struggles to understand Wayne Rooney whenever he has a conversation with his Manchester United captain.

Van Gaal hailed the 29-year-old as one of the five best players he’s ever managed during a supporters event on Wednesday night.

But when asked about his English in an interview with a Dutch television station, the United boss admitted Rooney’s accent has caused problems.

“When I speak, I am well articulated,” Van Gaal told RTL4’s ‘Linda’s Zomerweek’.

“If you put Wayne Rooney here in the seat, and you start talking to him, do you think people can understand Wayne Rooney? You simply can’t understand what he says.”
