LUIS SUAREZ TOOK up where he left off against PSG during the week, as he gave Barcelona the lead against Valencia after less than 60 seconds at the Nou Camp today.

Anything other than a win for Luis Enrique’s side meant Real Madrid could overtake them by beating Malaga later this evening but Barca shut the door on their fierce rivals, for the moment at least.

Suarez’s early strike set the hosts on their way but Valencia didn’t make it easy for the hosts, as an excellent save by Claudio Bravo denied Dani Parejo from the penalty spot, after Gerard Pique was deemed to have fouled Rodrigo.

Messi secured the points in the dying embers as he scored his 400th goal for Barcelona, although he needed two bites of the cherry.

Barcelona’s lead at the summit is now five points having played a game more than Madrid. Over to Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
