Louis van Gaal confirms Man United's interest in Cristiano Ronaldo

Could a return to Old Trafford be on the cards?

LOUIS VAN GAAL has confirmed that Manchester United will make an effort to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

The Portuguese striker has been continually linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with a return to Old Trafford and a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain rumoured.

United, meanwhile, have suffered from a lack of consistency on the wings and pace in attack, and the manager revealed for the first time that he would love to welcome Ronaldo back to his old stomping ground.

“Ronaldo plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals,” he told reporters on Saturday when asked about the Madrid man.

“There is no trainer in the world that doesn’t like him.”

But Van Gaal admitted that, although it would not be easy to land the three-time Ballon d’Or winner, he will cross his fingers.

“Of course we are looking – but are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable,” he said. “With Ronaldo, let’s wait and hope.”
