Manchester United are reportedly targeting the PFA Young Player of the Year

The 21-year-old has scored 30 goals this season and signed a five-and-a-half year contract in February.

TOTTENHAM ARE DETERMINED to keep Harry Kane this summer and will resist any bids from Manchester United for the striker.

Goal can confirm United manager Louis van Gaal has made Kane a target to improve his strikeforce after the 21-year-old’s sensational breakthrough season in which he has scored 30 goals.

But Tottenham have no intention of selling Kane, who is a product of the club’s academy and signed a five-and-a-half year contract in February.

Tottenham are confident Kane will stay in north London next season despite reports that United would be prepared to spend more than £40 million to take him to Old Trafford.

United are eager to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window as Van Gaal eyes a title challenge next season following the club’s return to the Champions League.

Memphis Depay has already signed from PSV in a £25m deal while United are also want to sign a right-back, central defender, central midfielder and striker.

Kane has emerged as a target with Radamel Falcao set to return to Monaco at the end of his loan spell and United ready to listen to offers for Robin van Persie.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is a long-term target for the 20-time champions but United have received no encouragement over a potential deal this summer.

United spent £150m on seven new signings last summer and are prepared to match that this year. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward told investors on Thursday that the club would again be active in the transfer market while their new £750m kit deal with Adidas starts in the summer.
