Marc Wilson on the verge of Premier League transfer following Twitter outburst - reports

The former Manchester United youth defender is set to join Bournemouth.

IRELAND DEFENDER MARC Wilson is set to join fellow Irish internationals Harry Arter and Eunan O’Kane at Bournemouth, after falling out with Stoke manager Mark Hughes.

Last week, the 28-year-old sent out a series of disgruntled tweets, suggesting that he was not happy with the lack of time spent on defensive training at the club, and Hughes responded by saying his future no longer lies with Stoke.

“He maybe expressed himself in the wrong way,” Hughes said.

“It’s fair to say that Marc feels his future lies elsewhere. It’s fair to say I probably agree with him.”

Today, John Percy of the Daily Telegraph, has reported his time at the bet365 stadium is indeed about to come to an end, with a move to the south coast imminent.

Wilson, who featured just four times in the league for the Potters last season, is set to move to the Vitality Stadium for a fee potentially rising to £4 million.

The Antrim man, who has been a regular under manager Martin O’Neill, missed out on place at Euro 2016 after he suffered several injury setbacks since damaging his knee in a FA Cup game against Crystal Palace in January.

The former Portsmouth player, who can play anywhere across the back four, should be ready to play if called upon by his new club, after Eddie Howe’s side lost their opening game of the season 3-1 to Manchester United, which included an error from Bournemouth defender Simon Francis.
