WORLD NUMBER ONE Rory McIlroy may have to rethink his Sunday wardrobe to avoid a colour clash with new Nike stablemate Tiger Woods.

McIlroy inked a multi-million dollar endorsement with the sportswear giant this week, joining 14-time Major winner Woods as the new face of “Team Swoosh”.

Although the specifics of the deal have not been released there is speculation that it includes a clause which forbids all Nike players from wearing red on the last day of a tournament, the colour traditionally chosen by Woods for his final round.

Asked yesterday McIlroy said he wasn’t aware of any agreement but would check it out. “I couldn’t tell you,” he said. “I’m not sure.”

He added: “I’ve won in red before,” including last August when he won his second Major, the PGA Championship, by a record-breaking eight strokes at Kiawah Island.

I’m not saying that’s the color I want to play in on the last day but…

Looking ahead to this year’s first Major, the Masters in April, the 23-year-old said that he’s more concerned about the colour he finishes in at Augusta.

“I’d rather just wear something that goes with green,” he laughed.
