SEAN MCCOMB CONTINUED Irish boxing’s positive start to the European Games, beating Ukraine’s Tymur Beliak by a unanimous decision in their last 32 encounter today.

The lightweight from Belfast emulates the achievements of Adam Nolan and Michael O’Reilly, who progressed to the last 16 of their respective divisions yesterday.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s Chloe Aboud was defeated 14-6 by Elin Johansson of Finland in the women’s 67kg class in taekwondo and in wrestling, Irish representative Alexander Dolly lost out 4-0 to Taimuraz Friev Naskidaeva in the 86kg qualification round.

In addition, Caroline Ryan was 15th in the women’s road cycling individual time trial and Ryan Mullen was eighth in the men’s event.

Finally, there was disappointment for Kieran Behan in Men’s Individual All-Around Final in gymnastics, as the Irish representative finished 17th with a combined score of 81.198.

Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaiev took home gold, scoring 90.332.
