WE SHOULD HAVE had an inkling their bromance was on the rocks when Tiger cleared Stevie to see other players, but yesterday evening’s announcement seems to have thrown everyone for a loop.

Was the thought of Stevie with another man just too much for Tiger?

Or was Williams’ famous loyalty – that had seen him wrest many’s a camera from startled crowdmembers - just too compromised post-Tigergate to ever allow the pair a way back?

Jealousy, commitment issues: it’s a sad end to a glorious partnership. But we can’t dwell on the break-up; it’s time to move on.

We’ve been wracking our brains in search of six candidates deserving of a place in Tiger’s shadow.

  • 1. Charlie Sheen

Without a win in two years, Tiger needs to get back into the habit. What better way to do it than to spend time with a man who's turned winning into a way of life?
  • 2. Rebekah Brooks

Leaked texts and voicemails did Tiger's public image untold damage. Sympathy mightn't be her forte, but in Brooks he might just find a shoulder to cry on.
  • 3. Ray Sefo

If Stevie was the highest paid sportsman in New Zealand, how about going for number two: K1 kickboxing's Ray Sefo.
  • 4. Zach Galifianakis

Whatever happens at the World Golf Championships stays at the World Golf Championships.
  • 5. John Hayes

With a less hectic schedule these days, the Bull wouldn't make a bad employee. He's loyal, can lift things all day and would make short work of those pesky photographers.
