THE STAKES COULDN’T be higher in Thurles as the Munster Hurling Championship gets under-way with old rivals Clare facing Limerick.

Trailing by a point heading towards the break, Davy Fitzgerald’s side’s task became even stiffer as Pat Donnellan was shown a red card for striking Donal O’Grady.

Did the referee have any choice?

Limerick were then reduced to 14 men when Seanie Tobin, who was on the pitch a matter of seconds, saw red for striking with his hurl.
