the amazing race

A new Bundesliga season and it was business as usual for one of Europe's best strikers

Rivals Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski were exchanging some messages before and after.

IT WAS PRETTY easy for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to find some motivation ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga opener against Mainz.

The 27-year-old striker, who finished with 25 top-flight goals last season, was watching as Robert Lewandowski scored three for Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen last night.

The prolific Polish forward struck 30 times in the league last season to finish ahead of Aubameyang in the top-scorer race and the Dortmund man was impressed by what he saw.

On Saturday, he fell short of the hat-trick and had to make do with a brace as Dortmund beat Mainz 2-1.

His first came after 17 minutes, with new signing Andre Schurrle teeing him up, while he added a late penalty too.

Afterwards, Lewandowski got in touch with a little reminder.

How thoughtful.
