Some pre-game reading ahead of kick-off:

3 mins — Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

A first chance for Liverpool as Xherdan Shaqiri picks out Roberto Firmino inside the area with a pinpoint cross. The Brazilian rises high like a fish out of water, but his header is wayward and falls wide of the post.

5 mins — Man United 0-0 Wolves

The supporters inside Old Trafford claim a penalty as Antonio Valencia goes down inside the box. Referee Kevin Friend is having none of it, however, and waves play on. Wolves with a decent chance on the break at the opposite end, with Matt Doherty getting involved early on this afternoon with a dangerous cross which is beaten away.

8 mins — Liverpool 0-0 Southampton

Shane Long comes close for the Saints. He gets on the end of a dangerous low ball into the box, beating Virgil Van Dijk to the ball. The Tipperary man gets a smart shot off at the near post, but the Dutch centre back recovers in time to get a last-ditch block away. Great defending.

9 mins — Man United 0-0 Wolves

Save! David de Gea called into action early on as he produces a brilliant save to deny Ruben Neves with a strike from distance. A promising start from Wolves, who are showing no fear.

10 mins — Liverpool 1-0 Southampton

Liverpool take the lead with ten minutes played on Merseyside. It’s a dreadful own goal from Saints defender Wesley Hoedt. Mark Hughes’ side failed to clear a fairly routine strike at goal from Xherdan Shaqiri inside the box, before the ball bobbled off the shin of poor Hoedt before it beat his own goalkeeper and ended up in the back of the net. Dreadful start for the centre back.

15 mins — Man United 0-0 Wolves

Wolves finding a lot of success down the right wing so far. Raul Jimenez with a decent cross into the area which forces a clearance from Chris Smalling, who read the danger early. Another chance for the visitors follows soon after, as Ryan Bennett heads just over the crossbar from the resulting corner. A decent effort, but the defender should have done an awful lot better to test David de Gea.

18 mins — Man United 0-0 Wolves

Save! David de Gea called into action again and he really is keeping his side in this game so far. Marouane Fellaini is somehow beaten in the air by Willy Boly inside the area, who forces the Spaniard to claw the ball away.

18 mins — Man United 1-0 Wolves

Fred scores his first goal for Man United to give his side the lead! He lets the ball across his body and smashes a brilliant effort with his weaker right foot past Rui Patricio. It was a world class touch from Paul Pogba to set the Brazilian up; he selflessly teed up his team-mate, who delivered a brilliant finish.

22 mins — Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

The Reds have doubled their lead at Anfield. Joel Matip rises high to beat Jannik Vestergaard in the air and the Liverpool defender emphatically heads a bullet of an effort past Alex McCarthy and into the top corner. What a finish!

25 mins — Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Shane Long limps off to receive some treatment along the touchline following a clash. It initially looked worrying for the 31-year-old hobbling off, but the Ireland striker runs straight back into play and seems fit to continue on.

32 mins — Man United 1-0 Wolves

Almost a second for Man United. A dangerous cross from goalscorer Fred is met by Marouane Fellaini, but the ball fails to fall to a team-mate in red and is scrambled clear. A lull period over the last little while in Manchester, but Jose Mourinho’s men are continuing to flood forward in search of a second.

We interrupt our Premier League coverage for a moment to bring you this absolutely outrageous goal by former Arsenal man Gervinho for Parma. He runs the length of the pitch and has a finish to match! Worldy.

42 mins — Liverpool 2-0 Southampton

Chance for Southampton! Matt Targett brilliantly pulls the ball back to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg right inside the box, but the ball is slightly behind the former Bayern Munich man and he only manages a weak effort which doesn’t even test Alisson between the sticks. It was a great break down the left wing from the Saints, but no finish to match.

45+3 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Jurgen Klopp’s men are heading towards another three points and a seventh win on the bounce in all competitions. A brilliant free kick from Xherdan Shaqiri is tapped onto the crossbar by Alex McCarthy, but Mohamed Salah is on hand to make it first to the ball and poke it over the line. He was fully alert and provided the killer blow. 3-0 to the hosts right before the break!

SECOND-HALF: We’re back underway for another 45 minutes!

46 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Just the one switch at the break in both matches as James Milner replaces Xherdan Shaqiri off the bench for Liverpool. The Swiss winger’s last contribution was that powerful free kick which led to Mohamed Salah’s goal. A decent afternoon’s contribution from the Swiss.

47 mins — Man United 1-0 Wolves

Good defending from Luke Shaw prevents another snappy break from Matt Doherty down the right wing. Joao Moutinho tried to pick out the Dubliner with a clever through ball, but Shaw did well to read the danger and stop the attack dead in its tracks.

52 mins — Man United 1-0 Wolves

Marouane Fellaini drags United forward again in acres of space, but the Belgian’s cross is to no-one in particular and flies in one side of the penalty area and out the other. Both Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez were in dangerous positions demanding the ball, but Fellaini’s cross picks out neither.

53 mins — Man United 1-1 Wolves

The visitors are back in this as Wolves grab the equaliser eight minutes into the second half! They have never looked overly outclassed in this game and the leveller comes as their just reward. Raul Jimenez is picked out with a low cross into the box, the striker feeds possession to Joao Moutinho an the playmaker’s first-time effort flies past David dea Gea and into the top corner.

60 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Alex McCarthy is forced to come from his line and punch clear following a dangerous, curling cross from the right boot of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The England right back was looking to pick out Roberto Firmino, but the Southampton goalkeeper did well to get there first.

63 mins — Man United 1-1 Wolves

Paul Pogba lets fly from distance to try and restore his side’s lead. The French international gets a lot behind his right-footed effort, but it flies comfortably wide of Rui Patricio’s righthand post. You get the feeling that Wolves sense three points could be within reach for them. A very even, very open contest.

67 mins — Man United 1-1 Wolves

Strike! Jesse Lingard lets fly from distance but Rui Patricio provides the heroics with a fingertip save to push the ball over his crossbar. A fine, fine save from the Portuguese. Still all square.

69 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Chance for a fourth for Liverpool and it really is all too easy at the moment. Mohamed Salah breaks down the right wing as Southampton bodies back-pedal desperately. He tries to pick out a man in red, but his cross flies out the other side of the box.

71 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

A third and final substitution from Jurgen Klopp as Naby Keita is introduced off the bench to replace Georginio Wijnaldum. It’s a stroll in the park for the Reds at the moment, with Shane Long and Nathan Redmond struggling to get any attacks going in the final third. It’s just been another one of those days for Mark Hughes, as his side stare into their third Premier League defeat in six… grim.

74 mins — Man United 1-1 Wolves

A final pair of switches from Jose Mourinho as he tries to inject some freshness into his attack. Alexis Sanchez makes way and is replaced by Juan Mata off the bench, while Andreas Pereira comes on in place of Jesse Lingard. Both sides are going for this and it seems neither is currently satisfied with just a point.

82 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Liverpool still threatening to nab a fourth late on here. Sadio Mane tries to twist and turn his marker following a lung-busting run into the box. His final touch beats his man, but is slightly overhit as Alex McCarthy springs from his goal-line to gather.

85 mins — Man United 1-1 Wolves

Romelu Lukaku presented with a brilliant chance to win it with five minutes remaining. The Belgian is picked out by a brilliant pass from Luke Shaw, but a moment’s hesitancy from the striker allows Willy Boly the chance to get to the ball first and clear. Almost for United, but brilliant defending from Boly at the very last second.

89 mins — Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Mohamed Salah fires the ball into the back of Alex McCarthy’s net, but the linesman’s flag is raised and the goal won’t count. Southampton completely fell apart in the box, allowing a succession of shots in a row with absolute ease. The fianl Liverpool effort came from the left foot of James Milner; it hit the post and allowed Salah an easy tap-in on the rebound, but the forward was deemed offside.

There will be two minutes of stoppage time at Anfield and five minutes added on in Manchester, as both sides dramatically swing it out for a late, great winner. It’s very tense.
