Michael D gets his hands on domestic football's newest prize - the President's Cup

President Higgins welcomed Pat’s and Sligo to Áras an Uachtaráin today as he launched the competition.

THIS IS WHAT St Pat’s and Sligo Rovers will be playing for on Sunday — the inaugural President’s Cup.

President Michael D Higgins welcomed both sides to Áras an Uachtaráin today as he officially launched the pre-season showdown between the Airtricity League champions and the FAI Cup winners.

The rose bowl cup, made by Lee Brothers Ltd, is engraved in both Irish and English.

The winners will also receive a specially commissioned medal featuring an image of President Higgins.

Kick-off in Inchicore is at 4pm on Sunday.
