'I barely saw it myself' - The fog impacted everyone including Robbie Brady

Ireland’s goalscorer struggled with the fog too.

CONDITIONS WERE SO bad inside Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Bilino Polja Stadium this evening that even goalscorer Robbie Brady wasn’t sure he’d given Ireland a crucial away goal.

TV viewers were left wondering what happened when Brady found the back of the net eight minutes from time and the Norwich man joked he was a little confused himself.

“I barely seen it myself!” he joked with RTÉ Sport’s Tony O’Donoghue after the game.

“One of the centre backs missed it and I got on the end of it. Then I pulled it inside and caught the goalie at the near post.

“I was happy with the goal. It’s a shame we didn’t hold out but it’s a good result away from home and we’ll take it back Monday and put in a better performance and hopefully put ourselves through.”

The 23-year old sounded confident of Ireland’s chances of qualifying for Euro 2016, even if he said Martin O’Neill’s men are aware of the quality of the opposition.

“There are probably little things we could work on, we could have probably prevented the goal and held out the last ten minutes but, like I said, not a bad result away from home and we’ll give it our all Monday and hopefully that will push us through.

“We know they’ve got some good players that can hurt us but if we keep a few to them quiet on Monday night, and we up our game, we’ve more than enough to push us through.”
