RUBY WALSH WAS taken to hospital on Saturday afternoon after the jockey suffered a suspected broken leg following a fall at Punchestown.

The 38-year-old was attended to on the track after suffering a fall from Let’s Dance at the Frontline Security Grabel Mares Hurdle.

A medical officer confirmed to RTE that the jockey had suffered a fracture.

“Ruby has a probable fracture of his right tibia and fibia,” said chief medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick.

“He is going to Naas for X-rays and then he’ll be transferred to Tallaght.”

Dr McGoldrick said that Walsh had taken a kick from his own horse when trying to get back up following a fall, but that he was alert.

Walsh had already suffered two falls earlier on the card. He was due to partner former Champion Hurdle hero Faugheen in the Morgiana Hurdle on Sunday.
