RUUD GULLIT HAS confirmed he would consider the vacant Aston Villa managerial position, if he were offered the job.

The Villans sacked French boss Remi Garde on Wednesday with the club languishing at the foot of the Premier League table with seven games still to play and on the verge of relegation.

However, Gullit, who managed Chelsea and Newcastle in the Premier League before jobs at Feyenoord and Los Angeles Galaxy, says he would be open to taking on the challenge at Villa Park.

“Look, if they come to me I will really, really consider it, and I will think about it if I have the people around me also to do that job,” he told BeInSport.

Remembered for encouraging his side to play “sexy football” during his time at Newcastle, the former Netherlands international says he is in the correct state of mind to return to management despite being out of work since a short term spell with Russian side Terek Grozny in 2011.

I feel ready. There were some things I had to do also for my life. I am happy what I am doing here (punditry) at BeInSport, I have been here a long time and I am happy what I am doing — people take after me here — so why would I give that up?

“Otherwise [being a manager] every day stress. You can get it if you want it. But of course, when they come to me I will of course consider it, I would.”
