SARACENS MOVED UP to second place in the Premiership on Saturday after beating Harlequins 42-14 in front of a world record crowd for a club rugby match.
A total of 84,068 spectators turned out for the match at Wembley, the home of English football, as Chris Ashton and Chris Wyles both scored doubles to help secure the victory for Saracens.
Jack Clifford’s early try had given Quins the lead, but Wyles and Ashton both went over as Saracens took a 21-8 lead into the interval.
Further tries from Ashton and Wyles secured the bonus point and Billy Vunipola got a fifth try as Sarries moved above Exeter into second place, 10 points behind Northampton.
Charlie Hodgson and Alex Goode contributed 17 points from the boot between them.
The attendance beat the previous best of 83,889, set in the corresponding fixture last year.
Exeter lost 25-18 to Leicester, who are up to third, while London Irish withheld late pressure to beat fellow strugglers Newcastle 22-21.
