Sky’s School of Hard Knocks to size up Ireland for next series

The documentary-turned-charity considered Belfast and Limerick for recent series and will return to those option.

SKY SPORTS’ COMMUNITY-based rugby project School of Hard Knocks could be coming to these shores in the coming months.

The documentary follows the School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) coaching team as they seek to help unemployed men in disadvantaged, disaffected areas to build confidence and job prospects while simultaneously building a team ethic on the rugby field.

The show’s sixth series (which ended last month) brought the Sky cameras to Glasgow, but producer Luke Rosier told TheScore.ie that Limerick and Belfast were also viable candidates at the last selection stage.

“When we chose Glasgow we were fairly close to Belfast and Limerick – they were the two other strong options,” says Rosier.

“We were adamant we needed to get away from England and Wales completely.

“I always had a feeling Glasgow would end up being number one, but when we sit down and work out the next move there is a reasonable chance that we’ll end up in one of those cities.”
