More topless celebrations as Ireland's Scott Evans qualifies for badminton knockout stages

The Dubliner now faces into a round of 16 clash on Monday.

IRELAND’S SCOTT EVANS has qualified for the men’s singles round of 16 after a crunch three-set badminton win over Brazilian Ygor Coelho de Oliveira.

After dominating the opening set and comfortably taking it 21-8, the Dubliner allowed Oliveira back into the game and coughed up the second set 21-19, rallying furiously after a poor start.

Still, it seemed a brief wobble because the third set was another one-sided, decisive affair with Evans taking 21-8 once again.

After securing victory, Evans whipped off his top and screamed with delight – unaffected by the boos from the local crowd.

He now faces into a knockout round clash on Monday.
